    School description

In the words of our College Mission Statement 'Overnewton Anglican Community College encourages and supports its students as individuals to achieve at optimum levels in a broad range of curricular and co-curricular activities and to prepare them for life as responsible members of the community with sound values based on Christian faith'. Founded in 1987 as an affordable Preparatory to Year 12 co-educational school in Melbourne's north-west, the College is today situated on two campuses in Keilor and Taylors Lakes, each a 20 minutes drive from the CBD. Emphasis is placed on providing a well-rounded education. Students achieve high academic results and have a well-established tradition of student leadership and community service. Overnewton provides an exceptional level of care for our students, parents and staff. We know that when individuals are well supported, they have the opportunity to thrive both academically and socially. We aim to provide a safe and caring environment where personal growth and positive self-esteem are nurtured and where students are proud to belong to the College community. We accept that all people are different and acknowledge that everyone has a right to feel safe, supported and respected in his or her own right. Our foundational belief is in Christianity and this binds our values together. The strong academic program is complemented by a wide range of co-curricular activities including music, the performing arts, debating and sport. The co-curricular activities serve to broaden students' interests and experiences, expand their opportunities to succeed, and help to build good relationships within the school. We encourage our students to develop a thirst for knowledge, and to accept, instigate and be excited by change. Career development is a vital part of the ongoing educational growth and development of each student with a life choices program designed to empower and inform students as they learn to make effective decisions about subject choices and pathways to life beyond school. The College aims to enable students to graduate at the end of their schooling as young adults confident in their own abilities and attributes, conscious of the needs of others and accepting of diversity.
