School description

Established in 1923, Carey is a Kindergarten to Year 12 co-educational school. Carey is founded on Christian principles, but welcomes all families. With an open enrolment policy, Carey regularly records academic results that place it among the top schools in Victoria.

A highly qualified, dedicated teaching and professional support staff present a breadth of choice characterised by extensive curriculum offerings and a range of course options, including advanced studies in Middle and Senior School. Senior students have the opportunity to pursue either the VCE or the International Baccalaureate. Purpose built facilities offer specialist classrooms, advanced ICT and recreation spaces appropriate to the students' ages.

The welfare of our students is our priority. Middle and Senior School students are allocated to the care of a Mentor who monitors their well-being throughout their time at the School, supported by a team comprising psychologists, chaplains and counsellors. Programs are in place to ensure a smooth transition at all entry levels.

Co-curricular activities are a core part of our learning, and include music, drama, and a choice of 20 sports, debating, dance and sequential Outdoor Education programs for Years 4 to 10. Community Service to both local and international communities is an expectation at all levels. A Sports Complex at Bulleen has several ovals, swimming and diving pools, a gymnasium and indoor basketball courts. The new Performing Arts Complex at Kew includes rehearsal rooms, tuition rooms and an auditorium.
